Hi everyone, and welcome to race week for the Rocky Point Trail Run!!
Planning is well in-hand and it looks like we’ve even managed to arrange the weather, again. Take a chair for your comfort at the after-match function and don’t forget some sunscreen….

Just a few notes and updates for the weekend, please read this carefully as there are some key changes to last year’s locations and times. Please don’t hesitate to email rockypointtrailrun@gmail.com if you have any questions or concerns.

Please arrange to register and pick up your race bib and drop-bag from the Old Ghost Road/Kawatiri Cycle Trail building (next to Whanake) on Palmerston Street, Westport this Saturday from 10am to 4pm. We’d appreciate it if you could do this as early as you can – so we can release our wonderful volunteers.
You’ll be given your race bag and a timing tag for your shoe. As you finish the race, we’ll collect your timing tag. Please don’t leave the finishing area until your tag has been removed and recorded as returned and stay clear of the timing mats once you have crossed the line.

Drop Bag
Your number drop bag will be given to you at registration. Take this with you, on Sunday, to the Start Line. It can be used for clothing etc. and will be transported back to await your arrival at Carters Beach. Please don’t put any liquids or fragile items in your drop bag.

Race Briefing
12.5k and 25k Events: 8:00am Carters Beach Domain Hall. This should be over in 10-15 minutes, before boarding buses to the start line. If you’re taking a vehicle, please follow Marshal instructions and park responsibly to the left of the hall.
5k Event: 8:25am at the Buller Bridge car park.
Transport for 12.5k and 25k Events
Buses will transport you to the Tauranga Bay from the Carters Beach Domain. Please have your race number visible – so we can mark you off our check sheets.

Start Line
You will be guided off the buses and directed to a holding area at the Tauranga Bay Domain. It is vital that you stay off the road and use the beach side track to get to the assembly area. There are Port-A-Loos located about 100m away at the Tauranga Bay Carpark. 25k runners will start first, at around 9:00am.
12.5k runners will start 5min later, followed closely by our hardy walkers.

Race Timing and Tracking
OneTime (a NZ owned sports timing company) is delivering our timing. Your race time will not start until you cross the first mat, and be calculated when you cross the finish line. There are additional mats out on the course that will allow your supporters to monitor your progress – and OneTime can estimate your finishing time. Showers and Toilets
There are 2 Port-A-Loos at the Tauranga Bay car park and a toilet block at the finish line at Carters Beach. The Seal Colony Top 10 Holiday Park (approximately 300m from the finish line on Marine Parade) have kindly offered use of their shower block. Please either walk there – or park your car on the road. All they ask is that you take your race number with you and there’s a $3 fee payable at the office.

Food and Drink
All finishers will receive a free “Taste of the Buller” treat as they cross the finish line.
The Finish Line at Carter’s Beach will have a good selection of food, refreshments and a licenced bar courtesy of local companies Shortjaw Brewing and the Reefton Distilling Company. Most of the stalls will accept EFTPOS and Credit Cards but a few will only accept cash.

Photos and Certificates
Photographers and Drone Operators will be out on course to capture you in all your glory. Images will be tagged and uploaded to the following site and be available free of charge. Your race certificate will also be available for download from the same site: https://events.onetime.sport/event/1502

Prize Giving
2:00pm at the Carters Beach Hall. Prizes will be awarded to each age category winner in the 12.5k and 25k events. Almost 100 spot prizes will also be drawn. You must be in attendance to receive a spot prize. Currently, the odds of winning something are about 50/50!

We would appreciate if all participants and supporters could take a few minutes to complete our short survey. This assists us to deliver a better event and provide vital feedback to our funders. There is a great Taste of the Buller prize draw for one lucky respondent!
